The Postgraduate Program in Applied Computing is an interdisciplinary master’s degree, approved by Capes in 2010, aimed at the study and development of computational technology applied to Agriculture. Being an interdisciplinary master’s degree, within the area of Engineering, Management and Technology at Capes, it has a faculty involving renowned professors with PhDs in the areas of Computing and Agriculture. The course has multidisciplinary laboratories and planned infrastructure to provide students with conditions to acquire knowledge and develop their work with a high level of quality. Considering that the development of the agricultural sector is extremely important for Brazil and requires constant technological innovations, this master’s degree meets a strong regional and national demand for training professionals capable of working in the computing segment applied to agriculture. lines of research: (i) Applied Computational Modeling; and (ii) Computing, Automation and Data Management in Agriculture. The PPG in Applied Computing aims to train professionals to develop and apply computational solutions that contribute to the agricultural sector, to train professionals to work in teaching and research in the area of computing applied to agriculture so that these professionals contribute to the dissemination of knowledge and generation of new technologies and computational solutions aimed at the agricultural area. The master’s graduate will receive the title of Master in Applied Computing. The PPG in Applied Computing offers scholarships provided by Capes and Fundação Araucária, whose value is currently R$2,100.00. The duration of the scholarship is 24 months. The criteria for allocating scholarships is through a notice, with scholarship candidates being classified initially based on their academic record and then also considering their performance in the master’s degree. Scholarships are distributed in order of student classification.
The selection process is aimed at everyone who has an undergraduate degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Agronomy or related areas, obtained in courses recognized by the Ministry of Education (MEC). This approach aims to attract candidates with different academic backgrounds and experiences, thus enriching the learning environment with a diversity of perspectives and skills.
For a variety of training courses, the program seeks to promote interdisciplinarity and collaboration between different areas of knowledge, thus preparing students to face the complex challenges of technological development applied to agriculture. This diversity of profiles contributes to an enriching learning environment, where students are encouraged to explore new approaches and collaborate on multidisciplinary projects.
