Chemistry of Bioactive Compounds and Biomolecules
Aims to study compounds of biological or pharmacological interest of synthetic or natural origin with development of synthesis, isolation, purification, spectroscopic characterization, reactivity, bioactivity, conformation, structure, physical-chemical properties and applications;
Environmental and Analytical Chemistry
Has as its main goals:
(I) The development of methodologies and analytical sensors for the determination of chemical species through classic and instrumental analysis techniques, employment of separation methods and pre-concentration and the usage of chemometrical tools
(II) Studies of transport, behavior and destination of chemical species in environmental matrices.
(III) Development of environmental remediation processes through effluent and solid residue treatment and waste disposal.
Materials Chemistry
Takes part in the development of new materials and their applications. The explored materials are applied on themes such as energy generation and storage, electrical-optical-magnetical materials, heterogeneous catalysis, pigments, semiconductors, conductant polymers, sol-gel, among others. The main encouragement is to seek excellence on the researches for the production of knowledge on the most diverse scientifical applications.
