Women and Society Colloquium
ISSN 2317-2665
The Women and Society Colloquium was created in 2012. An event connected to research and extension, and promotes dialogue with social movements, seeks ways for gender, race, class and ethnicity issues, besides fostering the creation of public policies. The meeting was created on March 8th in reference to International Women’s Day and has had nine editions up until 2025.
In the second cycle, a space was created to promote interdisciplinary studies, through themes that deal with human rights, democracy and gender equality.
The event, which is held nationwide, is organized by the Journalism Department of the State University of Ponta Grossa, the Journalism and Gender Research Group, the Elos extension project – Journalism, Human Rights and Citizenship Education, the Postgraduate Program in Journalism (PPGJor-UEPG) and the Postgraduate Program in Communications of the University of Brasília (UNB). Currently, this event takes place every two years in a hybrid format and involves the participation of professors, students, specialists, civil society, professionals, and Brazilian and international researchers.
Two publications have been organized since the last editions. One of them is the e-book Marcas & Discursos Gênero: produções jornalísticas, representações feminina e outros olhares, available free of charge from UEPG. The work was organized by professors from the Journalism Department and the postgraduate program in Journalism at the university, Karina Janz and Paula Melani.
