Journalism Agency
The Agency focuses on providing visibility to the activities of groups and social movements in partnership with the project. Active since 2003 in UEPG’s Journalism Department, its objective is to use the power of communication strategically to different social segments that need some type of assistance or support.
This communication is based on an interaction with the Nova Russa Community Radio Station (Rádio Princesa FM 89.7) and the Association of User Entities of the Community Channel (TVCom PG, channel 17 Net cabo). Through these activities, it is possible to bring greater visibility to groups that do not own space in the commercial media of Ponta Grossa and the region.

Combating Misinformation in Campos Gerais
The extension project “Combating Misinformation (defending Democracy)” aims to discuss the risks of the circulation of fake news in contemporary societies. Active since 2019, it holds dialogues and interviews with guests through live broadcasts and open conversations and produces audiovisual pieces that aim to guide and clarify residents of the Campos Gerais region of Paraná about the importance of clarification and the formation of public opinion in the exercise of citizenship. The audiovisual media pieces circulate in community media, digital social media and other spaces of institutional projection of entities or non-profit social organizations.
The local extensionist initiative is thus part of a national program, launched by the Federal Supreme Court (STF) in 2021 and aims to dialogue and develop actions to contribute to the public’s awareness that the circulation of false information can: (i) compromise democratic struggles for public policies; (ii) threaten Human Rights and, ultimately; (iii) compromise the constitutional foundations of democracy in Brazil.

Elos
The Elos (Human Rights, Journalism and Citizenship Education) extension project aims to address journalistic issues involving human rights, gender and citizenship. IOperating since 2016, Elos was created with the purpose of publicizing such issues, which are generally forgotten by traditional media, by producing texts, interviews, audios and short videos. Topics such as: the right to housing, plurality of opinions, feminism, the LGBTQIAPN+ community and religious freedom are the highlights of the extension project.
The content is circulated on the project’s website and social networks, the same space where columns by experts on indigenous, gender, race and human rights issues are published. In addition to the content mentioned, the Elos project also develops events, social projects and workshops for creating a laboratory newspaper in the city’s public schools.
Elos partners include projects such as Alô Mulheres, Movimento Popular de Luta (MPL-PG), Comissão Permanente de Apoiamento e Avaliação de Quotas da UEPG and Conselho Municipal dos Direitos da Mulher de Ponta Grossa.
One of the highlights of the Elos Project is the documentary Sobre Vivências Travesti, produced in partnership with the NGO Renascer. The film tells the story of the first transvestites in Ponta Grossa/PR (Debora Lee and Fernanda Riquelme) and their activism among the LGBTQIA+ population. The narratives reveal how the transvestites survived repression, the HIV/AIDS epidemic and the multiple forms of violence that marked their lives.
